I, and the members of HOP, would like to thank all of HOP's supporters, who have contributed to our unique vision, one that we have to export across the nation.  Without your help, HOP, would not be the success that it is today.  Your contributions (in every form), have jumpstarted the lives of many outdoor citizens.  Thank you for trusting me (shortly after my return from the nation's capitol), and supporting the vision of a group of current and former outdoor citizens, individuals who desired a lift, as opposed to a hand-out.  Each one of you, provided that lift for so many of our people.  We will showcase this new group of entreprenuers, individuals who are already putting themselves and other outdoor-citizens back to work.

In behalves of all of us, thank you, thank you and thank you again - whatever your contribution (dollars, clothing, equipment, blankets, shoes, dental work, vocational services ... including encouragement from several members of SJPD, San Jose's Economic Development Department ... and the First Christian Church)  happened to be!

I was a de facto class leader, beginning in the fourth grade. From that day forward, whether it was at church, school, in higher-ed or plenary groups …

I have always found myself being selected for a leadership role.  Earlier this year, I was nominated to be the President of the Santa Clara County Collaborative.

Whatever I wanted to do throughout life, I pretty much set my mind to it and did it. I used to walk to school with my now famous friend, singer James Ingram. Yes, the Grammy Award Winner! At an early age, still in elementary school, like many of the kids in our working-class and mixed neighborhood, we decided that we wanted to play musical instruments. First it was drums, guitars, pianos and organs.  I can still recall the day when we took our guitars to our 4-th grade class, and played a song together for our classmates.  How did we learn to play the musical instruments?  You asked for some inititial guidance, and then you intuitively taught yourself, or selves in this particular scenario to play an instrument.
